Call to Order: 8:07AM
Attendance: Jason Anderson, Leslie Welnetz (part), Faamati Winey,
Mitch Rehbine, Mady Reiter, Chris Farinella, Mary Divine, LaChelle
Williams
Minutes: Minutes for the 2/14/2006 meeting were approved as
submitted.
Updates: Member packets were sent out. Mady commented that they
looked very nice.
Blue Heron Days:
- A group is meeting with Target to discuss
their participation in Blue Heron Days. Target’s assistance with the
parade is important to the success of the festival.
- Mady passed on comments from a caller who was
concerned that the proposed wrestling event was not family oriented.
Jason stated that events occurred where businesses were willing to
put up money, and that the committee did what it could with what it
had. The wrestling is a major fundraiser for the committee. He said
the feedback he had received was positive. If there was a major
festival sponsor, the committee could be more selective about
events.
- Jason will email the board regarding the date
of the next Blue Heron Committee meeting.
- Mary stated that the city was willing to allow
her to participate on the committee.
- It was noted that Blaine’s Blazin’ Fourth
event has been cancelled.
- It was discussed trying to get more local
groups such as the scouts involved.
- Mary stated she had done some research on
carnival rides, but wasn’t having much luck. She will call Katie’s
restaurant in Shoreview about who they use.
Finance: Mike Gallagher is no longer treasurer because of time
constraints. Chris will take over the role and is working with Leslie at
Community National Bank to bring records up to date. Mady moved to
direct Chris and Jason to contact the bank for a record of deposited
checks to bring the checkbook register up to date by Friday, March 3.
LaChelle seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.
Newsletter: The next newsletter deadline is March 17.
- Mary sent photo of Faamati’s grand opening.
- Mitch will do Premiere Physical Therapy and
Jason will do EJM Pipefitters as featured businesses.
- Mary will do community news.
- Mary noted that the Hodgson Road bridge will
be closed for reconstruction this summer, and that the Chamber
should play a part in encouraging people to use Spirit Hills Center
as convenient place to shop while construction is going on.
- Faamati will do a story about Spirit Hills
Commercial Center in relation to the bridge closing to encourage
people to continue using the center.
Events: It was discussed to have a new member gathering sometime
in April, and that the date should be decided before the newsletter
comes out. Mary stated she would chair that event.
Next meeting is March 14.
Meeting adjourned: 9:20AM
