Minutes
May 10, 2005
Meeting called to order: 8:10 a.m.
Attendance: Brad Sanford, Tim Rehbine, Mitch Rehbine, Jason
Anderson, Mary Divine, Chad Wagner, Faamati Winey

Minutes: Minutes approved unanimously.
Organizational:
Insurance: Jason Anderson received a quote from Nesser Agency
for insurance of $239/year for worker’s compensation and $500/year
for liability. All events and volunteers are covered. Jason will
contact the agent to clarify the cost of carrying D&O insurance, and
why the agent recommended the board not carry it. Board members’
individual carriers do not cover them. Jason will go ahead with the
proposed policy while getting clarification on the issue. Jason will
check on liability for the golf tournament.
Scholarships: Board members are needed to grant a scholarship
on May 23 at 7 p.m. to a Centennial student. Brad, Faamati and Tim
are available. Motion was made to give a scholarship to Mike Koeding
from Forest Lake School District. Motion approved unanimously.
Financial: Carol Mahnke will send the financial statement.
Communication/Advertising:
Newsletter: articles are due.

Tim Rehbine will call Centerville for Community News
items.
·
Jason will include in newsletter that chamber members
can get a free link to their business site from the chamber website.
·
Tim completed a history of what the chamber has
donated to, and it can be included in the newsletter. This can also
be used in the new prospect piece.
·
The newsletter will include a request for volunteers
for the golf and softball tournaments.
·
The mailing label project is underway.
Website:
·
Mary Divine will send a newsbrief to the Quad about
the new Chamber website.
·
Emails to the website go to Chris, carboned to Jason.
·
Links to city websites can be added.
Scrapbook: Jason will try to locate it.
Socials/Charitable:
Blue Heron Days:
·
An ad will be going in the Quad that will include
applications to events, and list of known events and sponsors.
·
Lino Lakes State Bank has offered to sponsor, with the
assistance of chamber and Lino Lakes EDAC, the medallion hunt. Chad
will forward John Milbauer to Brian Wentz.

Members will be sent a separate postcard that says
what the chamber is sponsoring and how to sign up to play or
volunteer to help.
·
Volunteers are need to help with the golf and
softball. Golf is Friday, Aug. 19 at Chomonix, volunteers needed at
9:30 a.m. through lunch, or through the tournament. Goal is 12
volunteers. Mitch and Mary offered to help out.

·
It was suggested board members have name tags with the
Chamber logo for these events. Faamati will check with Image
Printing and Mitch will check with Print Central.
Fete de Lacs:
·
Motion was approved unanimously to donate $250 to the
Centerville summer festival.
Networking Breakfasts:
·
Jeannie will send a postcard to members inviting them
to attend networking breakfasts at 7:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of
the month at the Cottage Café. First breakfast will be June 7.
Members are encouraged to bring a guest.
Golf Nights:
·
Mitch should be contacted if interested in playing in
a chamber golf night.
Business Issues:
Signage:
·
Chad Wagner and Jason discussed the Lino Lakes signage
ordinance, and local businesses attendance at the Lino Lakes
Plannning & Zoning board to discuss the issue of temporary signage.
He asked if the chamber would support the business owners’ signage
plan. Mary Divine will send the city signage ordinance to the board.
Discussion included having an article in the newsletter, a survey of
business owners and posting the ordinance on the website. Brad
suggested the newsletter should have information for those without
computer access.
Roads:

Tim Rehbine updated the board on the 35WE Coalition
and construction of County Road 14 and the 35E/14 interchange.
New Business:
·
Mitch explained the “Good Guy Open” at Majestic Oaks
that has an auction to raise funds for families dealing with cancer
and if the chamber would donate to this. Brad will price a driver
that the chamber could donate.

Mary asked if board members would be interested in
attending a “strategic planning” session that Connexus Energy would
be willing to facilitate with Lino Lakes EDAC, chamber members and
representatives of the business community. She will get more
information.
Next meeting: 8 a.m. on June 14 at Lino Lakes City Hall.
