Quad Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

Minutes

September 20, 2005

 Meeting called to order: 8:25 a.m.

 

Attendance:  Mitch Rehbine, Jason Anderson, Mary Divine, Brian Wentz

                       Roxanne Kapping, Mady Reiter

Minutes: No minutes were approved.

   

Board Meeting Dates: It was moved and seconded that starting October 11, the board will meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 8 to 9 a.m. at Lino Lakes City Hall. Motion carried.

 

Administrative Assistant: Members discussed the need for an administrative person who could attend board meetings. Ms. Divine stated she would contact one potential candidate. It was moved and seconded that if it becomes necessary, an ad should be run in the Quad Community Press for the position. Motion carried.

 

Annual Meeting: The Chamber annual meeting is generally held in October. Jason will call the VFW about using their space for an annual meeting on Thursday, October 20 from 6-8 p.m. Chili will be served. He will ask if the VFW can make the chili. It was moved and seconded that Mary should run an ad in the Quad Press for two weeks prior to the event, and to also run it in the Community Events. Motion carried.

 

Mady will call members to remind them of the meeting. Jeannie could send out renewal notices along with an invitation to the event. A banner could be placed outside the VFW. Suggestions were made to have a drawing where each attendee places a business card and a $1 (or more) in a bowl, and then the winner gets the money. Jason will ask about getting some VFW gift certificates.  New brochures will be available as well as membership sign-up table.  The Chamber will do a presentation that will include what the chamber has accomplished this year, and to encourage members to sign up.

 

Members will be asked to nominate themselves or another member to open board positions.

 

Board Openings

There will be several board openings this year. There was discussion about making the board smaller. Brian was supposed to take over as president this fall, however, he will be leaving for another position in another city. Three names were considered as potential candidates: LaChelle Williams, Jim Rickard and Robin Doege.

 

 

 

 

Breakfast meetings

 

The Chamber will start monthly breakfast meetings at CuppaJo’s in the Spirit Hills Shopping Center. Each time one person will have the opportunity to talk about his/her business. The first one is tentatively scheduled for October 12 at 7:30 a.m. It will be announced at the annual meeting.

 

Candidate’s Forum

The Quad Press is offering to hold a Lino Lakes Candidate’s Forum on Tuesday, 25 from 7-8 p.m. They asked if the chamber would like to co-sponsor. The Quad will act as moderator, the chamber can assist with other duties, including timekeeper, people to pick up question cards from attendees, and screen questions.

 

Newsletter

Articles are due to Jeannie immediately. It is important to get the newsletter out in time to advertise the annual meeting and the candidate’s forum. Mary will do articles about the annual meeting and the candidate’s forum.

 

Next meeting: 8 AM on October 11 at Lino Lakes City Hall.
